Elder M. Winston EganYoung Men General Board Member
Brother M. Winston Egan was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents are Merritt H. and Marcia W.
Egan. He is married to Linda
Mangum Egan. Brother and Sister Egan
have four married children and 23 grandchildren. The Egans reside in Lehi, Utah.
Brother Egan completed
his bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University and his graduate work at
Oakland University and the University of Florida. He has taught children and youth of all ages,
kindergarten through college. He has also been an active researcher and
author. Elder Eagan began his special education
career at Utah Boys’ Ranch. He has been
honored with several university teaching awards including the Excellence in
Teaching Award of Graduate School of Education at the University of Utah, and Professor
of the Year awarded by the Blue Key National Honor Society at Brigham Young
University. From 1997 to 2009, he was
chair of the Teacher Education Department at Brigham Young University.
Brother Egan was called as a member of the
Young Men General Board in June 2009. Prior
to his current calling, he served in two stake presidencies, as a bishop in two
different young-single-adult wards at the University of Utah and Brigham Young
University. He has also served several
times as a stake and ward Young Men president.
Most of Brother Egan’s callings in the Church have involved Mutual-age
youth and young single adults. He
loves the goodness and promise represented in the rising generation of the Church.
