The Sundance Trio will present a recital of several musical styles for oboe, bassoon, and piano. The program includes works by American composer, Willard Elliot and English composer, Alexander Brent-Smith. Elliot's chamber piece is based on, and an elaboration of, six French folk songs, while Brent-Smith's writing, is at least in part, inspired by the music of Brahms. Two shorter works are by a young Utah composer, Alyssa Morris and a two movement French work by Robert Planel. The Planel features two contrasting movements exploring the romantic nature of nineteenth century music followed by a quick, whimsical and humerous movement. Also on the program is music by Ernst Mahle, from Brazil, which exemplifies a classical idiom, mingled with Brazilian musical influences. A three-movement work by Canadian composer, Bill Douglas, ends the program, reflecting his interest in Jazz  and World Music genres.
