The RixStix Percussion Group has a tradition of performing unique concerts featuring a variety of different percussion ensembles. This semester the ensembles fall under the prevue of faculty member Darrell Brown and he has planned a concert that will feature the music of Steve Reich, Igor Stravinsky, Eric Whitacre, and others. In celebration of the 100th birthday of John Cage this year, the ensemble will feature Henry Cowell's seminal Ostinato Pianissimo (premiered by Cage in 1943) as well as Cage's own Living Room Music. The concert is rounded out by the RixStix Drumline, and what percussion concert is complete without playing music on garbage cans?!? Cost is $6 for the general public and $3 for BYU-Idaho students. Event dress is appropriate.
